Chennai and Its Suburbs Witnessed 20cm Heavy Rains in Just 24 Hours !

Tamil Nadu is experiencing the most devastating situation right now. Mainly Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, and its suburbs have been experiencing heavy rains for the last 24 hours. The heavy rains struck the city of Chennai and its suburbs on Sunday. Tamil Nadu has not seen such heavy rains in the last 6 years. Based on reports, on Sunday nearly 20 cm showers of rain have been registered. However, the intensity of the rain today is a bit less than yesterday. But in the coming two or three days, heavy to very heavy rains are expected. Whereas the last 24 hours showers of rain have severely impacted many places in the state of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Government is taking every action necessary to better the situation. To cope with the current and upcoming rains, the Tamil Nadu Government decided to shut down colleges, schools, and offices. The 20 cm showers of rain on Sunday left roads waterlogged. Multiple areas in the states have been submerged in water. All over the state, many reports came to the surface indicating the terrible loss the Sunday rains left on the state. Many areas reported homes being washed away and severe damage to buildings and infrastructures. The government officials have passed orders to people in low areas to vacate their homes and shift to government houses. Currently, the state government has issued an orange alert in nearly 14 districts. Including cities like Chennai, Villupuram, Vellore, Kanchipuram, and more. To help citizens, local governments have initiated rescue teams. Whereas Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, requested everyone to cooperate with officials. All the facilities will be provided in time for everyone who has been affected due to these sudden rains. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to M. K. Stalin and ensured that all possible support from the Center in rescue and relief work will be provided. The government officials have been taking action to ensure safety for all. On Monday, nearly 3.36 lakh food packets for breakfast and launch have been supplied. Along with that, common kitchens have been installed in multiple local areas to serve the public. In many areas, power and transport services were halted. Public transportations also came to halt because of heavy water-logging on roads. Till now, 889 residents of water-stagnant low-lying areas were safely evacuated and moved to relief centers. To get rid of the rainwater in many areas, the state Government has installed pump sets in 500 locations. M.K Stalin is active on the social media platform, Twitter. He has been updating the country about the current situation and how the government is pushing all the buttons to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.
