The former cricketer Yuvraj Singh was arrested by Hansi police in Haryana. He was arrested for making casteist remarks against a fellow cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. However, the cricketer unintentionally made these comments that landed him in trouble.
The story dates back to last year June When Yuvraj jokingly made some remarks about Chahal during an Instagram Live session. Though he said casually, some people considered those comments as derogatory remarks. Based on sources, in that live Instagram session, Yuvraj speaking with Rohit Sharma, commented about Chahal’s famous TikTok and Instagram videos.
His comments against the fellow cricketer were casteist in nature. Which was came to light when one of the citizens of the Hansi, Rajat Kalsan has lodged a complaint against him. He alleged the former cricketer. During an Instagram Live session, he had made an objectionable remark while referring to another cricketer. He requested the high court to probe the former cricketer and filled an FIR.
Haryana Police has arrested Yuvraj Singh on Sunday and investigated him for a few hours. Later, he was released on bail just after a few hours of being arrested. The Police have confirmed that it was a formal arrest.
However, addressing the issue and how people misinterpreted him wrongly, he had responded on social media. He expressed regret over the comments he had made last year. His tweet read ” I understand that the conversation that I had with my friends was misunderstood by many, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible citizen of India, I want to say that If I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiment or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same.
The tweet has been circulating around the internet. It has gained hundreds of likes and retweets. Many people have emphasized Yuvraj and said that it was taken out of context. He was jokingly mocking his fellow cricketer. Whatever the reason is the former cricketer has regretted his comments about his fellow cricketer.
However, the final decision will be taken by the High Court. Let’s see how things will turn out for the former cricketer.
