Rs 50,000 compensation for families of those who die of Covid, Center tells SC

The Covid-19 has been the worst nightmare for every country in the world that we ever faced. India is the second-largest populated country in the world. During the covid’s first and second waves, many people lost their family members. Nearly millions of deaths have been recorded during this crisis. 

Many families lost the primary income maker and elders in the family. Because of this, many families lost their financial stability. Due to lack of financial support, surviving has become a challenging task for many families. However, it help all those families who had lost their family members, Central government came forward. Lately, Central Government announced that it will provide Rs. 50,000 ex gratia for families of those who died of COVID. 

This news has become the latest trending news on the social media platform. It would be a great help for all those families that have been a serious impact during the crisis. When the whole country is suffering to survive financially in the real world, this government decision becomes a beacon of hope for them. People who lost their family members are looking up at the government with great hope in their hearts and eyes. 

Recognizing this need for financial and emotional support Central government has taken this decision that is refueling people’s enthusiasm for life. Though they have lost someone in their there is someone who will be providing the necessary support. 

On Wednesday, The Central Government informed this news to Supreme Court. It stated families of those who died of COVID-19 disease will receive an ex gratia of Rs. 50,000. The fund will be released from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Not only that, the central government informed that people who are involved in relief operations or associated with “preparedness activities” will also get the ex gratia of the same amount. 

The ex gratia will be given not only for the death that has already occurred but also for the deaths that will occur in the future moving forward. Central Government will make the distribution process as people-friendly as possible. It has been said in an affidavit filed with the supreme court. The only criteria it will consider is the cause of the death need to be certified as COVID-19 in the death certificate. 

Families can claim the compensation by submitting some documents the government requires verifying the cause of the death. The national disaster management authorities will be analyzing all the things. They will ensure the process of claim, verification, sanction, and distribution is effective and will be completed as soon as possible. 

Central Government informed to settle every claim within 30 days of submission. In case if the final statement doesn’t come in favor of the claimant, then a proper reason will be given to the claimant. 

Previously, In June supreme court gave guidelines to provide financial support for all those families who lost their members to the National Disaster Management authorities. Which didn’t get completed at the time, so the SC gave another timeline for the authorities. Let’s see whether this time it will provide financial support or not.
