Swiggy will soon deliver Food packages via drones

Soon you will receive your food and medicines through drones. Yes, you heard it right, Swiggy platform is planning to use drones for delivering food and medicines. Most of us have already used this food ordering and delivering platform several times till now. Swiggy food delivery platform has its services in nearly 500 cities in India.

Now swiggy services will use drones for delivering food. Swiggy has already informed that the Ministry of Defense, aviation regulator Directorate General of Aviation, and Ministry of Civil Aviation approved Swiggy and its drone partner ANRA technologies to deliver food through drones.

Swiggy stated that ANRA technologies will begin their trials for beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in India. Initially, the flight team will begin its BVLOS food package deliveries in the Etah and Rupnagar districts.

Along with this, ANRA has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar for medical deliveries. So we will soon witness drones carrying food and medical packages.

Both the Swiggy team and Anra’s flight team have already completed the planning, risk assessments, and air traffic control integration. Also, necessary training, equipment preparation, and coordination details everything has taken care of, from both sides.

For this initiative, several participants took part but the Ministry of Civil Aviation selected only ANRA unmanned aero systems technology provider. Another collaboration consists of ANRA and the Indian Institute of Technology in Ropar and BetterDrones. It will also focus on food delivery.

Shilpa Gnaneshwar, principal program manager Swiggy informed, “We are excited about this new journey with the ANRA technology. We will make the best use of the ANRA drone’s potential. Through ANRA drone support we are looking forward to accomplishing some ground-breaking trails.

If the trails become successful, then demand for swiggy services will exponentially rise. Already Swiggy services have covered all over the country. Because of Lockdown, many platforms faced difficulty in meeting the demands and their services have decreased drastically. But Swiggy is looking forward to adopting some innovative ways to get Food and medicines delivered. Impressively all the plans are going in the right direction and soon swiggy may achieve significant results with its innovative plans.

Recently, because of a lockdown, many platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, UberEATS, and Dunzo delivery services were interrupted by the police force. Many city’s police forces have halted delivery boys and seized their vehicles. Because police informed, that during lockdown only essential services were allowed. And we do not consider food delivery services as essential services, Indian police informed.

However, if Swiggy gets its drone delivery system initiative successful, then it could be great for food delivery platforms. Also, it will be very helpful in delivering medicine and electronics. This drone delivery initiative will drastically improve the overall online shopping and delivery system.

But to achieve that Swiggy and ANRA have to start trials and test all other factors that could interrupt these services. Right now Swiggy along with ANRA drone technologies will start trials and we have completed all the necessary preparations, as informed by Swiggy.
