Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations have started in the country. Every state in the country is vibrating with a festival mood. After a long time, people are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm and zeal. The festival is celebrating across many states in the country. Compare to last year’s celebrations this year Ganesh’s Idols and celebrations are happening on a large scale. Last year, because of the COVID crisis, many people were stuck in their homes only. Also at that time, the COVID infection was very high so everyone it would be better to limit outside exposure. Whereas this year, with the vaccination rates and COVID infection cases decrement, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are looking slightly colorful and brighter than last year.
However, the government has already informed everyone to follow all the COVID protocols, keeping COVID third wave in mind. Whereas in some states government has been a bit strict with the celebrations like Mumbai. Mumbai Police imposed section 144 from today to until the festival ends. This is to ensure that public celebrations to keep in check because of the COVID infections.
Not only they have warned the public to not gather at the Ganesh Mandapas across the city. If the necessary public can attend Ganesh idol online. Along with that, Mumbai Police asked the public to celebrate the festival in their homes only. Because of section 144 imposing, visiting the Mandapas and Ganesh idols are prohibited.
Some other states, like New Delhi and Andra Pradesh, also imposed restrictions on the public celebration of the Ganesh Chaturthi. Officials informed that such restrictions were imposed to keep the public safe and away from COVID-19 infections. This is the second time the most-awaited and popular religious event being celebrated in such a muted state. However, as the situation is getting better and better we can hope for more grandiose celebrations in the coming years.
