Heavy rains causing floods in multiple cities in Maharashtra

India is experiencing heavy rains all over the country. Maharashtra has been taking the worst hit because of heavy rains. The state, Maharashtra, has seen a devastating loss of lives and economic loss. It even issued a red alert for multiple cities which have been already hit with heavy rains and floods.

Maharashtra government taking all the necessary precautions to cope with floods and heavy rains. As a part of it issued a red alert for the next 24 hours in cities like Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur. Along with some other districts, which had a high probability of floods and heavy rains.

Experts have predicted that heavy rains will most likely affect hilly and upland places. There is a high probability of like 51 to 75 percent of accidents caused by heavy rains and floods. So it is very crucial for local people to take all the precautions to protect themselves from any chance of experience devastating losses.

Also, the forecasts have predicted that the heavy rainfall may go above 204.4 mm in 24 hours. If the forecast’s predictions were accurate, then we may see a drop-down in rainfall following Sunday onward. But till then people from those areas must follow strict guidelines and cooperate with an official to get the situation under control if necessary.

Whereas continuous heavy rains from the last few days have already affected several cities beyond imagination. Heavy rains have disrupted the essential service of electricity and transportation facilities. Several places including Mumbai, Nashik, and other cities have been affected because of waterlogging.

The government got into action and NDRF has reached Kolhapur for rescue and relief operations. Since then thousands of people have been rescued and evacuated from the flooded areas.

Yesterday Konkan Railway announced through its official Twitter page about the current situation. It tweeted that “because of heavy rain, the water level of Vashishiti river bridge at km 130/9 between Chiplin and Kamath stations. And water level has risen above the danger level in the Ratnagiri region.

To control the situation, officials have canceled or suspended several cities’ road and rail services temporarily. Along with that, due to heavy rains, rivers of Ratnagiri and Raigad areas have been raising continually touching danger levels.

The Maharastra popular hill station in Satara district witnessed heavy rains that resulted in the rising water level of Savitri and other rivers rising dangerously. Which are increasing the probability of high stake situations for the locals.

To control the situation and to help flood-affected areas, the local government is taking necessary action at the same time adhering to all the COVID protocols. The chief minister ordered authorities to ensure proper distribution of all the necessities, like food, water, and medicine.

Based on reports, nearly 47 people have died in floods and landslide incidents in multiple areas of Maharashtra. Nearly 500 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas. In addition, recently the Pancha Ganga river has touched the 54 ft mark. So there is a high chance for all the surrounding areas. Heavy rains may slowly drop in the upcoming days but till then people have to follow all the guidelines issued by the government and officials.
