India witnesses 44k new COVID cases

It’s been more than one year since India has been fighting against COVID. Still, we haven’t completely wiped out this virus from our country. Though we may have experienced some relief in between yet the work is not finished. After the second wave, the COVID cases have seen a gradual decrease in numbers.

So some states have removed the lockdown process. Everyone got back to their normal lives at the same time, following all the necessary COVID protocols. As everyone thought the situation is getting better, now the cases are rising at an exponential rate.

Recently, India has seen 44,230 new infection cases in just a day. Covid cases are increasing especially in the last 3 days. Day by day the numbers are increasing continuously.

A new 44K cases in just 24 hours is not a small number, and it is terrifying. If things go at the same rate, it would lead to a devastating situation. One of the states, the southern states of Kerala has initiated lockdown before things go out of control. On Thursday, the southern state of Kerala made this decision.

Along with this, new reports confirm that the R-value has touched 1 on July 24. R factor determines the rate at which coronavirus infections are spreading across the country. Now it has reached 1 means every 10 infected people will infect 10 other people. Going by this rate, India may soon see an all-time high in infected cases.

Based on the health ministry data on Friday, the nationwide tally of infections has reached 31.57 million. So this is a high-stakes situation where every state has to make better decisions to decrease the COVID infection. Unfortunately, some states like the capital New Delhi recently opened up their economic activities.

Our neighbor state, Andhra Pradesh has extended its lockdown till August 14. This means the night curfew will remain in Andhra Pradesh from night 10 pm to morning 6 am.

As of now, the highest number of infected cases appeared in Kerala. Within just a single day Kerala has registered nearly 20K, new COVID-19 cases, and 116 deaths in just a 24 hours time period. After that, the second most infected cases appeared in states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Most importantly, cases are spreading at a very high rate.

There could be many reasons why COVID infection cases are rising again in India. One of them is removing lockdown and many people are still not wearing masks when they go out. Also, many people are not following all the COVID adherence protocols as stated by the officials.

We have indeed survived through the second wave and cases have gone down for a while. But if we go back to the same habits neglecting COVID protocols, then we will have some serious consequences.

India is making its full efforts to vaccinate the country as soon as possible. But it will take considerable time until the Entire country gets vaccinated completely. Till then we have to follow all the precautions to stay away from virus infection.
