International Tiger’s day 2021 India has doubled its tiger population in the last 4 years

Tigers are the most ferocious and powerful animals. They are apex predators well known for their strength. These are at the top of the food chain and they can hunt down animals over twice their size.

Unfortunately, tigers are one of the animals that are going extinct at a rapid rate. Luckily, every country in the world has already recognized the critical situation of tigers. As a part of this, International tigers day has been born. In the year 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit the entire world decided to fight the extinction of Tigers. They decided to double their country’s tiger population by the year 2022.

Nearly 13 countries have participated in the event. Since then every country is making its full efforts to preserve and improve the tiger population and their ecosystem.

As a part of this, the countries have decided to promote tiger conservation by making this day, July 29, as the Global Tigers day every year. On this day, every country reevaluates its strategies and checks how far the country has made progress towards tiger population.

We are happy to inform you that India has successfully achieved the goal of doubling its tiger population by 2022. In fact, India has achieved this 4 years in advance. Which is an impressive start.

India is the leading country with the largest number of tigers living. It currently has 70% of the tiger population globally. Also, India is looking forward to continuing with the same progress rate.

PM Narendra Modi through his twitter handle has announced some interesting news and new reports about the tiger population. Modi wrote” Right now, India is home to over 70% of the tiger population globally. Moving forward we ensure our commitment to ensuring safe habitats for our tigers and nurturing tiger friendly eco-systems”

In addition to this, He also informed that India has nearly 51 tiger reserves spread across 18 states. Which have already shown impressive results towards improving the tiger population. India has become the safest and largest country for Tiger housing nearly 3000 tigers.

PM Modi has further shared that India’s tiger conservation strategy is unique. Country attaches special importance to improving the tiger population. Tigers’ population has seen a significant improvement over the years in India. Both the government and local communities have played a key role in achieving these numbers.

There are many factors why tiger species are going extinct at a rapid rate. Mainly because of poaching and lack of a proper ecosystem. Both are the effects of humans only.

The illegal activity Poaching is one of the things that India has been fighting against for a long time. Poaching means illegal killing and supplying tigers. In some Asian places and western cultures, there is a high demand for tigers. Their body parts were a certain kind of status symbol in many places.

The second biggest factor is the lack of a proper ecosystem. Because of humans, many forests have been cut down which has disturbed wildlife animals’ ecosystems. Tigers also lost their ecosystems and went out for food. Then again, tigers were tracked and hunted down by local communities to protect themselves.

India is looking at all potential causes and making full efforts to protect these largest cat species at any cost. India’s strategies and conscious efforts have been successful so far. And we expect that India will show the same improvements and commitment moving forward.
