It’s hard to predict accidents upfront. No matter how advanced our technology is, from time to time we’ve witnessed many accidents that went off in a fraction of seconds. Most of these types of accidents took place in large companies. Recently, a similar situation occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The incident set the ocean on fire for a few hours. The videos of this accident look hard to believe. These stunning visuals went viral on Twitter.

Let’s take a better look at what exactly happened in the Gulf of Mexico that caused such a hell resembling fire to break out.

Mexican state-owned petroleum company Pemex stated that a gas leak occurred in the 12-inch submarine pipeline on Friday. This incident took place near a platform in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap oil field.

This resulted in the bright orange flames exploding in the southern waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It resembled molten lava coming out from the depths of the sea. These hell-fire videos were posted on Twitter and went viral on social media.

At first, people thought these videos were unreal or CGI but later realized the situation. This unbelievable fire broke out around 5.15 am local time. When the officials got the news, they immediately got into action. The Firefighting crew successfully cleared out these monster flames with the help of a fiery mass of water by about 10.45 am local time.

Luckily, there were no injuries reported. Also, the production from the project is not halted or interrupted because of this gas leak. The Pemex company said that it would investigate the actual cause of this hellfire breaking out in the middle of the ocean. The company also added that it has shut the valves of the 12inch diameter gas pipeline.

The video captures the moment in stunning visuals. In the video, you can see three firefighting crew boats in action at the Gulf of Mexico trying to put out this hell resembling fire. However, the citizens who saw the video-sharing their own point of view with some humor and criticism. In no time the video and memes or comments about this fire breaking out went viral on social media.

Some said that this video footage looked like an end-of-the-world movie scene and others said “Oh they’ve opened the gates of hell” and more. The video footage has created a plethora of memes on social media.

Isn’t it obvious because fire breaking out in the ocean and people then using water for putting the fire is very ironic, right. Luckily, immediate security protocols were activated, and the fire has been extinguished successfully. But it took nearly 6 hours of full team efforts to put the fire out.

Head of Mexico’s oil safety regulator ASEA, Angel Carrizales informed that the incident didn’t generate any spills. So the situation is under control. But they informed nothing about what exactly is burning on the surface of the water.

In addition, the Pemex company has a long record of major accidents at its facilities. All this is raising a lot of questions among viewers and citizens. However, further details will be revealed after the investigation.
