Electric bikes and scooters will soon run on Indian roads

Electric bikes and scooters

We are running out of natural resources day by day and it is getting difficult to keep up with the growing population’s transportation needs like petrol and diesel. Now everyone is looking at a better solution to cope with this issue. Many industries all over the world, making efforts to come up with new solutions which could benefit both the environment and users. That’s how electric vehicles came into the picture.

Several companies have already planned to launch some new electric scooters and bikes. Today we will look at some new electric scooters and bikes that have the potential to revolutionize the transportation system if they become mainstream.

Bajaj “Freerider”

Recently Bajaj has filed a trademark for the new motorcycle Freerider moniker in India. If the reports are accurate, it could be Bajaj’s first electric bike.

The company has revealed little information yet but we can expect that Bajaj Freerider will use the same platform as that of Husqvarna E-Pilen. E-pilen has 100 km range and 10.73 HP on tap. Also, we could expect some components like the frame, suspension system, and braking model will be the same.

Along with this, this new electric motorcycle may use a neo-retro design theme. It could even come with a new sporty design. Which highly appeals to the younger generation.

YAMAHA Electric Scooter

Right now in India, the electric two-wheeler segment is growing. Yamaha is also planning to launch electric two-wheelers soon. But it will first observe India’s EV infrastructure then it will make its contribution.

India’s EV infrastructure includes charging points, battery swapping points, and local battery manufacturing facilities. Based on reports, Yamaha will wait until India’s infrastructure is powerful enough.

OLA Electric scooter

OLA seems to be closer to launching a new electric scooter than others. Recently OLA chairperson and Group CEO shared a tweet of a highly anticipated Ola scooter. Also, the tweet asked his followers what color they would like on the scooter. The scooter in the tweet appears in full black. So it’s safe to say that the OLA electric scooter launch is sooner than we think.

Based on reports, the company is planning to announce its prices in the coming weeks. The new electric scooter may have a range of 100-150 km and have some intriguing features. Features like a removable lithium-ion battery, digital instrument console, Cloud connectivity, and more.

SUZUKI Burgman electric scooter

SUZUKI is also planning to launch an electric scooter into the Indian market soon. It even started testing the electric version of BurgmanStreet 125. Based on the leaked images this electric seems to feature the same design and cycle parts as for any other petrol model vehicle.

Final Thoughts

To encourage and support electric two-wheelers Indian government is making its full efforts to build solid EV infrastructure. Till now both Gogoro and Hero MotoCorp companies have already partnered up for the development of EV infrastructure and electric two-wheelers in India.

India’s updated EV policies and the steady improvements of EV infrastructure we’ll soon witness some significant growth in the development and supply of electric vehicles.
