Google removed 8 malware crypto apps

Scams are very common these days. Day by day hackers are finding new innovative ways to steal and scam the general public. Recently hackers tried a new approach to cash in people’s curiosity in Cryptocurrency mining. Nowadays, cryptocurrencies are getting a lot of attention from internet users and investors.

Where the curiosity of cryptocurrency mining is at its peak, hackers saw the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the user’s curiosity. They made some inauthentic cryptocurrency cloud mining applications and published them on the play store. Not only with the crypto craze around the internet, but many people have also downloaded these inauthentic crypto mining apps.

However, Google has successfully identified these malicious apps and filtered them out of its play store. Google has removed nearly 8 apps and warned users to delete these applications from their mobile phones.

These 8 apps have been misleading users like crypto day traders, crypto investors. People who installed these apps were unaware of this till Google called them out. These apps are tricking users to watch ads and paying for monthly subscriptions. Which is approximately $15 and more. People who thought these apps were genuine crypto mining applications were trapped in the hacker’s hand.

Hackers have taken advantage of investors’ and traders’ curiosity for the cryptos. These apps have offered some good returns for the users, that’s how they have gained their popularity among short-term traders and crypto investors.

Based on security firm Trend Micro, these apps offered good returns on investments in cloud mining operations. They made users pay additional fees for increased mining capabilities without getting anything in return. As crypto transactions happen online, they are very hard to track. So investors were unaware of their investment actual trackings. Which allows hackers to mislead users without ever providing actual crypto mining capabilities.

Not only these apps forced users to watch ads but also promoted users to invite their friends for attractive incentives. Unfortunately, users can’t even withdraw their cryptos from the apps. Whenever they tried to withdraw, it kept on waiting.

In the play store, these apps were shown in financial categories. They even have well-written pages without implementing actual things on the app’s interface. Promising users with false hopes and deceiving them to spend more for better cryptocurrency mining capabilities. Moreover, these apps have been downloaded more than 100,00 times.

Luckily, Google has identified these malicious apps that are tricking users with cryptocurrency mining capabilities. Whereas the app’s interface shows nothing like it. Instead, it deceives users into believing in crypto mining, like fake mining activities. This fake mining activity played out on these apps has been carried out by the local mining simulation module.

If you are also using these malicious 8 apps, then it’s time to delete them. Google removed apps are BitFunds, Bitcoin Miner, Bitcoin, Crypto Holic, Daily Bitcoin Rewards, Bitcoin 2021, MineBit Pro, and Ethereum. Also, Google informed users to beware of these malicious apps and don’t fall prey to such apps. Fake apps like these are increasing day by day. So it is our responsibility to check and use authentic apps only.
