Ganesh Chaturthi has started on a high note as the visarjan day is coming closer, everyone is asking the same question. Generally, every year when the Ganesh Visarjan day comes, everyone in Hyderabad carries their Ganesh Idol grandiosely to Hussian Sagar. But this time High Court has put the breaks on everyone’s Ganesh visarjan plans.

Recently, HC banned the Ganesh Idol immersion in Hussain Sagar, especially the POP Ganesh Idols. The HC decision has been raising concerns among citizens as it was the same place that we have been doing Ganesh Idol immersion for a long time. The high court informed officials not to allow immersion of Ganesh Idol made of Plaster of Paris in Hussain Sagar and all the necessary requirements are already in the process.

However, the Hyderabad citizens were not expecting such sudden changes regarding the immersion of Ganesh Idols in Hussain Sagar. When the news came out on Thursday, everyone started questioning the high court decision. Many people criticized the decision and raised concerns about where they should immerse their Ganesh Idols.

Supporting citizen’s viewpoints and addressing everyone’s concerns, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi contacted Telangana government officials. They asked the Telangana government to make some adjustments and arrangements for the Ganesh Idol Immersion. However, the HC doesn’t seem to have any plans to alter its statement.

After receiving several concerns from Hyderabad citizens Telangana government decided to file a review of the Ganesh Idol Immersion ban in Hussain Sagar. Whereas the Telangana High Court made it clear that it is not going to change anything. It is going to stick to its decision to ban Hussain Sagar. The High Court even replied with some valid points and shut the Telangana Government.

The High Court has taken this decision to stop the pollution of tank band water. Which has become one of the popular places in Hyderabad and the government’s intention of making it a tourist place. The decision was taken to ensure the well-being and safety of families and pedestrians on the Tank Bund road. Also, it requested citizens to cooperate with the officials. For ensuring the smooth and peaceful process of Ganesh Idol Immersion.

Some people sticking to their point of view they asked the HC on what basis they are saying the Ganesh Idol immersion is causing the pollution. They have put forth some arguments like the pollution control board reports on pollution levels of Hussainsagar lake before nad after. They show that the Ganesh Idol immersion had no impact on the lake water quality.

The real issue came to light when the acting Chief Justice said that the government had failed in its attempt to create an alternate infrastructure for Ganesh idol immersion. From last year to this year, the Government had a chance to prepare an infrastructure of baby ponds for Ganesh Idol immersion.

However, the government informed that those baby ponds were not useful for immersing big Idols. So we have to wait and see how things will turn out.
