High Court says “Family having only one flat should not own 4-5 cars”

Family having only one flat should not own 4-5 cars

The automobile industry is one of the largest and fastest-growing industries in the country. Every day, millions of sales happen in the automobile industry. Nearly every home in India owns at least one or two cars and some even more.

Automobiles help you in traveling efficiently and comfortably wherever you want to go. But have you ever thought about the downside of it. In recent years, air pollution and environmental issues have risen significantly. In that automobile plays an important role. Along with this, as everyone is owning automobiles, roads are being flooded with them.

Especially in Maharashtra, people who are living in flats have frequently complained about not having enough parking space. As there is no sufficient parking space, people are parking their vehicles on both sides of the roads. Which later causes other public issues and also could cause accidents.

Every day, many cases like this will come up and authorities are also struggling to find an effective solution. Being fed up with all these issues, a Navi Mumbai resident and activist Sandeep Thakur filed a public interest litigation (PIL). In his pleas, Sandeep Thakur highlighted developers are not providing sufficient parking spaces in new highrises. Which is forcing residents to park their vehicles outside the premises of the housing society.

The high court also agreed and responded favorably. It informed that authorities should not permit citizens to own multiple vehicles if they don’t have enough parking spaces. Especially people who are living in flats should not own more than 4-5 vehicles. Which is the main cause of this type of chaos.

It informed authorities to check all the details whenever they buy any new vehicles. You can’t allow families to own 4-5 vehicles just because they can afford it. You should cross-check whether they have adequate parking spaces or not.”

Because many people are buying vehicles irrespective of parking spaces. Later they are parking their vehicles on roads. Nearly 30 percent of the public roads are being covered by these vehicles. Which is the most common issue people are facing nowadays. So authorities need to take action against such matters. And they should not allow people who own flats to get 4-5 vehicles just because they can.

Responding to the Sandeep Thakur PIL, the high court informed state’s counsel Manish Pable to reply within two weeks. Which will help both society and the environment. With the proper parking spaces available for vehicles, we can experience a better society.

Also, it will help the country reduce air pollution. The high automobile usage causes air pollution and environmental issues. So by limiting the number of vehicles owned by a family, it could help to reduce those factors. However, it won’t be any significant number, but everything counts when it comes to the environment. Nearly 9 out of 10 people breathe polluted air. So, this is the perfect time to pay attention to such matters as air pollution is at an all-time high in cities like Maharashtra, Delhi, Hyderabad, etc.
