After the Indian government banned TikTok, many platforms entered the Indian market with the idea of filling the gap that TikTok has left. Many large platforms even introduced similar copycat features from TikTok. Not every platform became successful but many platforms have seen an upsurge in their user base. Moj is also one of those platforms that has achieved massive success within a short time.

Within a very short time, Moj became India’s most popular short video app. Moj and share chat are owned by Bangalore-based company Mohalla Tech Pvt Ltd. Recently, Moj has been making some ambitious decisions to increase its influence among users. Moj has officially announced that it has made a multi-year licensing deal with the T-Series.

T-Series is India’s largest music record label and film production company founded in July 1983. Even if you are not a big music fan, you might have heard this name a million times till now. It has a long-established legacy in the music industry. Now the company has signed a deal with Moj.

This deal allows Moj users to access the label’s music library. So there will be no limit to the entertainment on the Moj platform. Already Moj allows users a wide range of music tracks and special filters to make their videos more engaging.

With the T-Series music label deal, the platform unlocked millions of new tracks for its users. Moj allows users to create their own video version with music tracks. Where users can profile and show off their creativity. To get discovered by users who later become fans and fellow creators.

Based on reports, Moj and Sharechat together have a 340 million strong monthly active user community. Along with that, it has over 82 million creator communities. This is not a small number, both the platforms represent a significant share of Indian users.

Apart from this, Moj already had similar deals with other music labels last year. Last October the company signed multiple deals with Times Music and Zee Music.

Not only Moj, every short video platform is looking to increase their user base with deals like this. It is even reported that Indian short video platforms are planning to invest nearly 200 crores per year on music labels and licensing deals. Which allows users to take their entertainment level to the next level.

The reason behind these deals is that platforms are responsible for providing various music tracks for their users to use. Users can reuse these music tracks in their videos. By signing deals like this, the platform ensures that the music users use will be free from copyright issues.

This means Platform is responsible for featuring that music on its platform. To feature music on the platform, platforms have to have certain authority or ownership on those music tracks. This can be gained by signing deals with music labels and partnering with music companies.

So Moj users will get many new music tracks added to the platform for use in their videos. Users can unleash their creativity and talents with these new tracks.
