Vehicle Scrappage Policy

Every country on the planet taking every necessary step to making a better future. Everyone on the earth is paying extra attention to being environmentally conscious and working towards a better and greener tomorrow. Automobiles play an important role in making or breaking the environment.

So the Indian government is working towards making the automobile industry more environmentally friendly. Because of air pollution and sound pollution, automobiles play a very crucial role. The automobiles industry also has to focus more on becoming environmentally friendly. To make that possible, Narendra Modi has taken a new decision that will change and improve automobile industry efforts to become eco-friendly.

Narendra Modi has announced this new policy “Vehicle Scrappage Policy” at the investor Summit in Gujarat. Which happened virtually because of the COVID crisis.

The Vehicle Scrappage Policy will allow the automobile industry to promote vehicles that are more fit for the environment and circular economy. This will provide a new identity for the Indian automobile industry.

With this policy, unfit vehicles, especially those vehicles that are old and polluting the environment, will be kept out of the roads. Which will inevitably force the automobile industry to produce a better vehicle that is suitable for a circular economy.

Narendra Modi also encouraged everyone to cooperate with this policy. He stated that this new Vehicle Scrappage Policy will set a new significant milestone for India’s development journey. Which will help both the economy and the environment heavily in a better way.

Also, he informed, in the Investor Summit in Gujarat to encourage this policy and help in building a circular economy infrastructure. Circular Economy infrastructure will help the automobile industry to flush out all those old and unfit vehicles. Along with that, this policy will force the automobile industry to design better and recyclable vehicles. Which helps in developing a circular economy.

The circular economy is nothing but an economy where the products are designed and manufactured for durability, reusability, and recyclability. Which will play a crucial role in making eco-friendly vehicles and a better environment.

Along with this, this new Vehicle Scrappage Policy states that vehicles that are older than 15 or 20 years respectively have to go through some tests. These tests will ensure the vehicle is fit and doesn’t cause much damage to the environment. If the vehicle doesn’t pass through the test, then it is restricted from entering the roads.

Similar to the driving license tests these tests will be performed at the government-certified fitness centers. Under the surveillance of authorities. Vehicle owners can register for the test online itself. Irrespective of your location, you can go through these tests at any center near you. The results will be available online.

Not only this, the Government is planning for some very attractive incentives for all those vehicles that will gain the fitness certificate. Incentives such as road tax and registration fee for the new vehicle if you do scrap for the old vehicle.

With all this, we can say that the Government is making decisions keeping our future in mind. This will help not only designing better vehicles but also better economy with the circular economy.
