Due to the COVID crisis, every company introduced work from home for employees. Everyone started working from home, going nowhere. Most of the population had quickly adapted to the idea of work from home. Not only did employees start working from home, but also fell in love with this new strategy.
Because work from home allowed employees to spend more quality time with their families and at home. So both companies and employees had a smooth transition from work from the office to work from home. However, companies are calling their employees back to the office.
As the COVID situation cooled off little and the vaccination rate is going at a fast rate, companies gained confidence in calling employees back to the office. The state government of Telangana is also confident in initiating work from the office. Especially the IT sector is looking forward to starting work from the office starting in September.
With adequate precautions in place, office companies can provide safe environments for their employees. However, companies will first let people who have taken vaccination to offices. Slowly, companies will start increasing the number of employees attending the office. Based on reports, nearly 60% of employees have received their vaccination or first dose. So companies have no problem calling their employees back to the office.
Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA), which is associated with nearly 300 IT firms in India, has also reported that companies calling 60% of their staff to attend office. Some small companies even started recalling vaccinated employees back to the office.
As the country sees a decline in the COVID cases and increasing vaccination, companies are optimistic about RTO’s return to the office. Whereas employees have a different point of view. Employees are not fully interested in going back to offices. Well, some may have already worked from the office, but the majority of them are still hesitant about the idea of working from the office.
Some of the valid reasons could be the COVID third wave and people’s fear of covid, who already lost one of their family members. Due to the first and second COVID, many people lost their family members. After experiencing such devastating loss of a loved one, people are very fearful of stepping out of their homes. Especially people with children in their families are not at all interested in attending offices.
Several people even came out on social media stating their concerns and not willing to attend offices. Even experts warned us failure in precautions or any exposure to the outside world will put us at risk once again.
However, global giants like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are planning to introduce new working strategies like “Hybrid workplace”. This Hybrid Workplace allows 80% of employees to work from home and the rest 20% will work from the office. This strategy could be beneficial for both companies and employees. Employees can enjoy their quality time with families at the same time, meeting all their official work needs.
Whereas the companies can reduce their maintenance cost and skyrocket their growth. Though the hybrid workplace looks interesting, there is so much work that needs to be done to witness these models being active. In conclusion, the majority of companies are starting to work from the office. So check with your companies that you may also need to attend the office in September.
