We all know that passing on insults and comments on opposition party members is a common thing among our political parties. But passing on derogatory comments on the same party members is quite rare. Recently, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy made some derogatory comments on his senior colleague Shashi Tharoor.
This news came to light when the Telangana IT minister KTR posted an audio clip of him that was sent to him by the reporter. KTR tweeted this audio clip with a sarcastic comment. Revanth Reddy’s comments on the audio clip triggered a firestorm on the social media platform. Admitting his mistake, Revanth Reddy apologized to the senior Congress leader.
The audio has been circulated all over the internet for the last two days. It made everyone angry, especially congress party leaders. Some even expressed their disappointment on Twitter, calling out on Revanth Reddy.
Responding to the audio clip, one of the party members, Manish Tewari, made a tweet tagging Revanth Reddy and Shashi Tharoor. He said that “Shashi Tharoor is a valued colleague of you and mine. It would have been better if you would have spoken to him if you had some misgivings about a purported statement of his. He further added, “Grace and Propriety demand you withdraw your words.”
Revanth Reddy apologized to him personally and later tweeted on his official Twitter, regretting his comments. He apologized, saying I hereby withdraw the remarks and reiterate that I hold my senior colleague in the highest regard. Further stating that he regrets any hurt that may have been caused to him by his words. Ended with a note saying that we both share our faith in the values and policies of the Congress party.” With his sincere apologies, Revanth put a full stop to the outrage that was caused by his audio clip.
Whereas Shashi Tharoor heartfully accepted his apology. Initially, when KTR tweeted his audio clip, Shashi Tharoor responded saying “I am sure he was only expressing his fraternal feelings”. However, other people didn’t take the matter lightly.
After receiving the apology from Revanth Reddy, he twittered on his Twitter handle that I am happy to put this unfortunate episode behind us. We must work together to strengthen Indian National Congress in Telangana and across the country.
The reason behind this dispute, last week when KTR IT initiatives had won the heart of Shashi Tharoor. Shashi Tharoor appreciated KTR and his team members’ efforts towards the IT field development. He even stated that minister KTR setting an example in Telangana with the IT initiatives& policies. Along with that, he encouraged others to put aside political divides and should come forward when it comes to IT policies”.
However, how controversial the news may be, finally it ended with a happy note. Controversies like these are quite common in politics. In the end, both the party leaders belong to the same party, so there won’t be any misunderstanding like this in the near future as well. Till now, the matter has been settled down among them and they both of them have come to a mutual understanding.
