Elon Musk-led company Tesla is one of the most successful electric car companies in the world. Tesla Model 3 is the world’s all-time best-selling plug-in electric car. Also, the Tesla company has registered its subsidiary Tesla Indian Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This means we will witness the Tesla Model 3 on Indian roads earlier than expected.

Tesla will enter the Indian car market with the Model 3. Elon Musk-led company Tesla imported three Model 3 entry-level sedans for homologation and testing purposes. A test mule of Tesla Model 3 long-range dual Motor variant has been spotted testing on the roads in Pune. It appeared in a picture shared by an Instagram account.
The spotted Tesla Model 3 running on roads with a temporary license plate. It could be on testing duty by the ARAI. Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable electric car that Tesla offers. And Tesla might launch the Model 3 as a CBU to test the waters in the Indian market.
However, there is a possibility that Tesla may also launch the Model Y in India first. Because of Indians’ appetite for SUVs and the price tag. Whereas Tesla Model 3 will come in three variants. Standard Range Plus, Long Range, and Performance variant. They come with a range of 423 km, 568 km, and 506 km respectively.
Tesla’s operations in India
Based on recent news, Tesla already registered its office in Bengaluru. The Tesla team is planning to open showrooms in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. So it’s safe to say that Tesla’s India Headquarter will be in Bengaluru and its regional office in Mumbai.
Tesla has made several top-profile hires for its India operations. The Company onboarded Samir Jain as lead after-sales, Nishant as Charging manager, and Chithra Thomas as its HR leader in India. Also onboarded Manuj Khurana as Policy and Business Development head.
What will be the Tesla Model 3 Price range
Tesla is yet to confirm details about Model 3 pricing and availability. However, we can expect the Tesla Model 3 prices from Rs 50 lakhs. Initially, Cars Price will be high as they will be shipped in as completely built-up vehicles. Once the company manufactures cars in India, prices may go down.
Based on reports, the company has plans for the opening of an R&D center and battery manufacturing units in the country. However, initial Tesla Model 3 units will be CDUs. We can expect the first Tesla electric sedan in India by the end of this year.
Depending on the variant, Tesla Model 3 powered by two electric motors linked to a battery pack. It can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes using a fast charger. And it generates 450hp/639 Nm and the car can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds. Tesla Model 3 has a top speed of 261kn/h.
